This course is held at an East Midlands venue, within easy reach from public transport links.
On the registration pages you may book your required modules from the following options:
Legislation & Ethics (level 1) plus 3R's: Covers the legal and ethical approach to using animals in research and the principles and application of the 3R's
PIL AB: EU Modules 3, 4.1, 6.1, 7 and 20 (PIL AB), cover animal handling, basic biology, recognizing animal health and well-being, Schedule 1, health and safety, anaesthesia and analgesia, animal diseases, the application of scientific procedures and husbandry. Delegates may complete the assessments at this stage (PIL AB). Following certification delegates may apply for a Category A & B Personal Licence.
PIL C : This is the training module for those who require the firmer grounding in anaesthetic techniques or who are planning to undertake invasive surgery. Covers the Learning Outcomes of EU Modules 21 & 22, provides the background and practical experience in these disciplines. Delegates may complete the assessment at this stage (PIL C). Following certification delegates may apply for Category C on their Personal Licence.
Our experienced lecturers provide the knowledge and understanding required for delegates to complete end of session(s) assessments, which will gain them a certificate from either the Royal Society of Biology or Scottish Accreditation Board. Following completion & certification delegates may apply for a personal licence for the categories they have successfully completed (PIL A, B, C).
NOTE: These accredited modules meet the theory learning outcomes appropriate to the EU Directive - Education & Training framework for Function A staff (UK PIL's).
Skills Modules Learning Outcomes (e.g. animal handling) - Your establishment/employer is required to provide signed verification (working under Charles River training provider accreditation & guidance) of your training in skills such as animal handling (for further information see pre-course information provided at registration).
The above completed skills verification form must be returned within 3 months following course attendance. The accrediting body will not issue course certificate(s) after a period of 3 months post attendance.
