Aseptic Technique for Rodent Surgery

This course will provide hands-on instruction for creating and maintaining a sterile field and proper aseptic conduct during rodent surgery.

Description

This course will provide hands-on instruction for creating and maintaining a sterile field and proper aseptic conduct during rodent surgery. No live animals are used in this workshop.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify appropriate materials to create sterile fields
  • Demonstrate proper technique to introduce sterile materials onto the sterile field
  • Practice proper surgical preparation of the patient
  • Practice proper surgical preparation of the surgeon
  • Practice maintaining sterility
  • Recognize breaks in sterile field and identify appropriate response

This course is applicable to the new rodent surgeon and individuals looking to develop basic principles in rodent surgery.
